Weekend at the Lakehouse

Some of our new friensds were so gracious to invite us to their lakehouse at Lake Nacimiento for the weekend. Thank you Steiner family! For the record, this was the first family vacation that mom and dad have gone on (since having kids) that they weren't visiting extended family or camping!
They need to get out more!

Thanksgiving 2010!

It's snowing!

We went to the little town of Markleeville near Tahoe to spend Thanksgiving with family. The town consists of a coffee shop, one resturaunt, one gas station, a post office and a library and that's about it. It was very cold...like anywhere from 2-25 degrees everyday.
Here's the Markleeville Cabin. Friends of Grandma and Grandpa own it.
The road up to the cabin
Sledding! Me (li'l John) lying on dad's back, holding on for dear life. It was sooo fun! I got cold though and had a melt down after a while cuz snow got in my boots. Faylen was so strong and brave. She went down the slope several times and once with mom. She LOVED the snow and played in it like it was sand. She never whined and complained of being cold.

Thanksgiving family picture. It's snowing in this pic. We are standing on the deck.
The whole gang!
Grandpa and uncle Josh had to plow the driveway several time just to get out of the house!
A hike in the snow...

Crazy uncle nate who went cross country skiing everyday with his 2 dogs for miles and miles. He's such a mountain man!
We loved reading books with uncle Nate

I'm so cool....next year I think I'm ready to go snow boarding
Even Jediah got to go sledding! He loved it.

Helping grandma make the stuffing

loved throwing snow over the balcony

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were greatful for all your blessings! We certainly were!
I have to mention our adventurous drive home. It only took us 10 hours when it should have taken 5.5! We got stuck in a crazy blizzard. Mom and dad seemed to be having fun in the adventure of crazy wind, snow, sleet and only being able to see 5 feet in front of the car. We drove to the top of a very high pass only to find that they closed the road due to avalanch control! So we had to drive all the way back down, through the snow (with snow chains the whole time) just to take another route. It was crazy! But sorta fun!
